Overview

This article describes how to monitor volumes with mount points accurately when WMI is not available.

Environment

All Versions of SAM

Detail

  • Servers which polled via SNMP cannot be polled for Mount Points or any non local disks as SNMP currently does not have the capability to perform such tasks.
  • Windows Machines can be polled via WMI and will correctly pick up any Mount Points or any network shares assigned to the node when Server and application Monitor Module is installed.
  • For SNMP Polled Nodes It is possible to run some form of script using the SAM Script monitor to pull the required statistics
  • See the following Scripting Custom Component Monitors with SAM and there are sample script available in C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\APM\SampleScriptMonitors\LinuxScripts can be of help with the creation process.
