Monitor a Microsoft Windows Server failover cluster in SAM

Overview

This article describes how to use SolarWinds® Server & Application Monitor (SAM) to monitor cluster health on a Microsoft® Windows Server® failover cluster.

Environment

All SAM versions that will monitor Windows Server failover clusters 

Steps

Note: SolarWinds recommends using a virtual IP (VIP) address to monitor your cluster health. Otherwise, you may experience unexpected results caused by stopped services. 

  1. Log in to your Orion web console as an administrator.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Under Product Specific Settings, click SAM Settings. 
  4. Click Manage Templates.
  5. Apply a Microsoft Windows Server XXXX failover cluster

    where XXXX is the Windows Server version.
