Manually run AppInsight Configure Server script

Table of contents

Overview

In some cases, Applnsight Configure Server feature can copy the script to the target system, however it cannot run it successfully. This article explains how to obtain the script and run it manually.

Environment

  • All versions of Windows.
  • SAM version 6.1 or later
  • AppInsight for Exchange, Appinsight for IIS.

Steps

  1. Open the Settings of the target AppInsight Application.
  2. Click the Config Server button.
  3. While this is running, log in to the target system you are attempting to monitor.
  4. Open the following path:

C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\APM\WsManConfigurator\

  1. Copy the ConfigureWsManScript.ps1 file and paste it to a temporary location such as c:\temp\.
  2. Open a CMD prompt and type the following commands:
  • Powershell.exe
  • Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
  • c:\temp\ConfigureWsManScript.ps1 -targetIP {IP}

Note: {IP} is the IP address of the target system and the IP address entered in the Orion Node.

The AppInsight Application Powershell-based components should now work correctly.  Force a Poll Now on the Application to verify this.
