JAVA_HOME environment variable must be set for JMX component monitors

Overview

The JAVA_HOME environment variable needs to be set for JMX component monitors. If they variable is not set, you may encounter the error "Exception: Unable to determine JAVA_HOME" in the Orion agent's Python logs. To resolve, verify and set the JAVA_HOME environment variable for the server.

 

Environment

  • SAM 6.3
  • JMX component monitor

 

Cause 

The JAVA_HOME environment variable is not set for the server. When the JMX component monitor runs, the following error occurs in the Orion agent's Python logs: "Exception: Unable to determine JAVA_HOME".

 

Resolution

To resolve, verify and set the JAVA_HOME environment variable for the server. Follow the vendor instructions for checking and adding a variable to the environment.
