Exchange MountPoints Show no IO Metrics

Overview

This article overviews why you may not be picking up volume metrics for an Exchange 2016 Server

Environment

  • Any SAM Monitoring an Exchange 2016 Machine

Detail

  • Exchange 2016 Recommends "AutoReseed" which requires two mountpoints assigned to an Exchange Volume
  • If the volume mountpoint is listed above the database mount point, WMI will pick up performance counters from the volume mountpoint.
  • To fix this, remove and re-add the volume mountpoint on the target exchange server to bring it below the database mountpoint
  • Refresh asset inventory and then force a poll on the target node
  • IOPs and other performance metrics should now correctly appear.
