Error: Arithmetic overflow error converting numeric to data type numeric

Overview

This article provides steps to resolve the following error:

Arithmetic overflow error converting numeric to data type numeric.

Environment

All SAM versions

Cause

The error is caused by invalid historical data in the database stored by a previous version of SAM.

Resolution

Warning: SolarWinds strongly recommends that you create a full backup of your database. The following steps may create permanent changes to your database.

1.Create a backup of your database. 

2. Run the following SQL command on your Orion database:

UPDATE APM_ProcessEvidence_Detail SET PercentCPU = NULL WHERE PercentCPU < 0

3. Re-run your maintenance manually. 

Note: The maintenance will take some time (about 24 hour period data).
