Cache Used/Min performance counter has incorrect negative value

Table of contents

Overview

When using AppInsight for SQL, the Cache Used/Minperformance counter reports incorrect negative values.

Environment

All SAM versions

Detail

This counter is calculated as the difference from the previous poll divided by the elapsed time. SQL server sometimes returns the incorrect value (probably zero) which later results in an incorrectly calculated value. Because this counter uses the Threshold Baseline Calculator, thresholds are calculated incorrectly which results in false alarms.
This is a known issue and will be addressed in a future release.
