AppStack not drawing All Relationships

Updated November 23, 2016

Overview

The AppStack environment does not highlight all VMs associated with each ESX hosts which can be misleading when trying to map VMs to their hosts/data store.

Environment

  • Orion Core 2015 and later
  • SAM 6.2 and later

Cause

vCenter was deployed in a virtual machine which caused AppStack to treat is as a VM instead of vCenter. Thus, the  parent host/data center/vCenter is displayed instead of environment under the actual vCenter.

Resolution

  1. Open the vSphere client and connect to your vCenter.
  2. Find the VM where the vCenter is installed.
  3. Go to the Permissions tab.
  4. Right click the credentials used for polling in VIM and select Properties.
  5. In the Change access rule option, select the No access value.
