AppInsight for Exchange resource for Users By Mailbox Size may display incorrect value

Table of contents

Updated 1-6-2017

Overview

In the SAM AppInsight for Exchange resource for the Users By Mailbox Size may display an inaccurate amount for the % QUOTA USED. The amount in Microsoft Exchange and AppInsight for Exchange differ due to the selected value displayed by SAM. SAM uses the "Prohibit send and receive" quota to provide the last point when a user will stop receiving emails. The "Prohibit send" quota is a smaller value and if reached still allows users to receive emails.

Environment

  • SAM 6.2.4 and later

Detail

SAM uses the "Prohibit Send and Receive" quota for the % QUOTA USED value in AppInsight for Exchange, the Users By Mailbox Size resource. This value displays how far it is before the user's mailbox stops working. The value indicates there might be a good amount of time before it reaches 100%.

When comparing values between Microsoft Exchange and SAM may differ, and provide helpful information for handling quote issues for Exchange mailboxes.
