Overview

This article provides  brief information and steps to resolve the following AppInsight for Exchange error:

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Exchange.Data, version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToek=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
 

Environment

All SAM versions

Cause

Upgrading the Exchange server with latest service pack can cause the configuration on the Exchange server to change.
 

Resolution

1. Exchange update creates a backup copy for configuration files.

2. Replace the current configuration file with its backup copy. Go to IIS Manager > Default Web Site > PowerShell > Actions panel > Explore. 

The backup file should be located in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy\PowerShell 

3. Rename web.config to web.config.origin then rename web.config.bak to web.config.

4. Navigate to IIS Manager > Exchange Back End > PowerShell > Actions panel > Explore. 

This configuration file should be located in the following directory:

 C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\PowerShell-Proxy

5. Rename web.config to web.config.origin then rename web.config.bak to web.config.

6. From an elevated command prompt, reset IIS using the following command: iisreset.

 

Test AppInsight for Exchange polling, The error should disappear.
