Overview

This article provides an overview on the difference between the "Preferred Polling Method" options under the Advanced section of the "Edit Application Monitor" page.

Environment

SAM 6.2 or later

Detail

  • Agent
    • This will try to leverage the same agent to perform the application polling.
    • If you are not monitoring the parent node with an agent, it will automatically poll this application as agentless (Even if it shows Agent selected).
  • Agentless
    • This will ignore the agent polling, and use the specific monitor's preferred way of polling (WMI, RPC, etc...).
