This webinar will focus on use cases for HR, Facilities and Accounting.

Having a unified ticketing and asset management system for all the departments in your company can provide end-users with a seamless experience and make things easier for your IT team. Yet, with different business tasks and objectives, many departments don’t fully understand the capabilities of Web Help Desk and how the software can be customized for effective use in their departments.

Incorrect status of services displayed in SAM

Overview

After assigning an application to a node managed through an additional poller, the assigned application remains in Initial Poll in progress state. If all services on the additional poller are restarted, it picks up data and polls as normal.

Environment

SAM 6.1.1 and later

Cause

SWIS publication/subscription does not work well between the main and additional poller. During these cases, the additional poller is unaware that a new application has been created and does not schedule a polling job.

Resolution

Warning:

  • SolarWinds strongly recommends that you only edit the SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.dll.config file as instructed. Any additional modifications may result in system performance issues or may create an error state.
  • Save a copy of the original SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.dll.config file to your local drive as a backup file, in case you need to rollback later.
  1. Upgrade SAM to v6.1.1 or later.
  2. After the upgrade, manually change the config file on the Additional Poller by doing the following steps:
    1. Go to Volume Data:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\APM\SolarWinds.APM.BusinessLayer.dll.config
    2. Find the following line
       <apmSettings checkMaintenanceStatusTimer="06:00:00" maintenanceStatusOverdue="02:00:00" MaxNumberOfInitialWaitForAppDiscovery="30">
    3. Add useApplicationChangeQueryNotifier="true" to look like the following:
      <apmSettings checkMaintenanceStatusTimer="06:00:00" maintenanceStatusOverdue="02:00:00" MaxNumberOfInitialWaitForAppDiscovery="30" useApplicationChangeQueryNotifier="true">
  3. Restart the Module Engine.
