How to monitor the AWS GovCloud

Overview

AWS GovCloud (US) is an isolated Amazon Web Services (AWS) region designed to allow U.S. Government agencies and customers to move sensitive workloads into the cloud by addressing their specific regulatory and compliance requirements. 

By default, SAM does not monitor the GovCloud region.

Environment

  • SAM 6.4 or later

Steps

Perform the following steps to monitor the GovCloud region.

Enable GovCloud

  1. Log in to your SolarWinds Application server.
  2. Open the Database Manager.
  3. Click Add default server.
  4. Right click your SolarWinds database and enter the following query:
    UPDATE [dbo].[CLM_AwsRegions]
    SET [Enabled]=1
    WHERE [SystemName]='us-gov-west-1'

Disable GovCloud

  1. Log in to your SolarWinds Application server.
  2. Open the Database Manager.
  3. Click Add default server.
  4. Right click your SolarWinds database and enter the following query:
    UPDATE [dbo].[CLM_AwsRegions]
    SET [Enabled]=0
    WHERE [SystemName]='us-gov-west-1'
