How to disable Node Polling in SAM without disabling Application Polling

Table of contents

Overview

In some cases, a client may wish to discontinue monitoring a Node and its resources but continue to monitor the Applications assigned to the Node. This article explains how to do this easily.

Environment

  • All versions of SAM
  • All versions of Windows

Steps

  1. Change the Polling Method of the Node from SNMP/WMI to ICMP.
  2. Click Apply.
  3. Change the Polling Method of the Node to External Node.
  4. Click Apply.

Notes:

  • Any Application Components that require SNMP will no longer work.
  • Any Application Components that require Windows Authentication must be assigned a Credential and must not be configured to "Inherit credential from Node".
