Hardware health monitoring table is too big

Overview

Hardware health monitoring table is too big. You want to shrink the APM_HardwareItem_Detail table and reduce hardware health historical data, but want to keep your current settings for other statistics.

Environment

All SAM versions

Resolution

The workaround is to modify the following stored functions in SQL Studio Manager:

apm_GetOrionRetainDetailDate
apm_GetOrionRetainHourlyDate
apm_GetOrionRetainDailyDate

1. Navigate to SQL studio manager and expand DB > Programmability > Functions > Scalar-Valued Functions
2. Replace the following line:

select @DataRetainDays = CurrentValue from Settings where SettingID = 'SWNetPerfMon-Settings-Retain Detail'
with
SET @DataRetainDays= <requested/>

Ensure the new value in apm_GetOrionRetainDetailDate < apm_GetOrionRetainHourlyDate < apm_GetOrionRetainDailyDate
