Error setting prompt (PS1)

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the error in setting prompt PS1.

Environment

All SAM versions

Cause

The Linux/Unix Script monitor waits for a prompt two seconds after a SSH connection and sometimes this delay is not long enough.

Resolution

Increase the value of the delay.

Warning: SolarWinds strongly recommends that you only edit the given file. Any additional modifications may result in system performance issues or may create an error state.

1. Open C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\APM\SolarWinds.APM.Probes.dll.config in a text editor.

2. Locate the following line:

<linuxscriptsettings promptwait="2" columncount="200" temporaryscriptfilenameprefix="APM_"/>

3. Change the value of PromptWait from 2 to 10.

<linuxscriptsettings promptwait="10" columncount="200" temporaryscriptfilenameprefix="APM_"/>

4. Restart the SolarWinds Job Engine v2 service for the changes to be applied.
