Configure Windows SMTP monitor to accept localhost when switching to Orion agent polling in SAM

Overview

When switching from agentless polling to Orion agent polling in SAM, verify the Windows SMTP server is properly configured. The SMTP server must accept connections from localhost for Orion agent monitoring. If SMTP is not configured correctly, you may receive an unhandled exception error. For example, you may receive the error "Unhandled exception. WeOnlyDo.Exceptions.SSH.InvalidStateException: Invalid state. Connect first."

Environment

  • SAM
  • Orion agent
  • Windows SMTP

 

Cause 

Windows SMTP must be configured to accept connections from localhost for Orion agent monitoring.

 

Resolution

  1. Verify Windows SMTP is set to accept connections from localhost.
  2. Change from agentless monitoring to Orion agent monitoring. For details on configuring Orion agents, see this guide.
