Overview

This article explains the common status values that a component can return in SAM.

Environment

  • All  SAM versions
  • All Microsoft Windows versions

Detail

 

Up: The resource, application, the node is up. The numerical value is 1.

 

Down:  The resource being monitored by the component is unavailable. The numerical value is 2.

Examples:

  • Windows Service Monitor detects that the service is not running.
  • HTTP Monitor detects that the website is not responding.

 

Warn:  One or more Warn thresholds in the component's settings, has been exceeded.  The numerical value is 3.

Examples: 

  • Windows Service Monitor detects that the service is using CPU% greater than Warn threshold.
  • HTTP Monitor detects that the website's response time is greater than the Warn response time threshold set within the component.

 

Critical:  One or more Critical thresholds in the component's settings has been exceeded. The numerical value is 14.

Examples: 

  • Windows Service Monitor detects that the service is using CPU% greater than the Critical threshold.
  • HTTP Monitor detects that the website's response time is greater than the Critical response time threshold set within the component.

 

Unknown: The component was unable to assess the status of the resource being monitored.  This is normally due to communication errors or mis-configured settings. The numerical value is 0 or any other value.
Note: View the details page of the application or the component provides additional information regarding the cause of the issue.

 

Unmanaged: This component has been put in maintenance mode and has a status of unmanaged. The component is not being polled while it holds this status. The Numerical value is 8.
