Cannot set custom details view for a user

Overview

You cannot set a custom details view for a user.

Environment

All SAM versions

Resolution

  1. Create a new custom application details view
  2. Create a user called 'testUser' and set its property by navigating to: SAM Settings > Application Details View and go to the newly created application details view
  3. Create an application based on a template without using a custom view (eg: Apache.apm_template)
  4. Login as 'testUser' and open the application details page for that by navigating to: Application > Newly created custom view which is used on the page
  5. Create an application based on a template with its own custom view (eg: BizTalk Server 2010 Adapters Performance Counters.apm-template)

Actual Result:
Login as 'testUser' and open the application details page for that application. The template's custom view is used.

Expected Result:
Login as 'testUser' and open the application details page for that application. The user's custom view is used.

       6. Edit the template's settings to use 'default application view' instead of its custom view.

Actual Result:
Login as 'testUser' and open the application details page for that application. The application details view is used.

Expected result:
Login as 'testUser' and open the application details page for that application. The user's custom view is used.

Information: The view defined within the template has the highest priority. If the template has a custom view defined, it will be used regardless of the user's defined setting within their account. However, if the template uses the "Default" view, then the users defined view is used.
