Overview

This article describes the application template with an HTTP monitoring component for testing a website by passing parameters and expecting a specific value.

Detail

You may use HTTP or HTTPS monitor to check the current status of a website or use the HTTP Form Login Monitor to check as well if the website is able to accept authentication requests.

The application monitors test the ability of a web server to accept incoming sessions and transmit the requested page. The component monitor has the functionality to search the delivered page for specific text strings, which can either pass or fail based on that search.

Setting specific parameters to return specific values require using a Windows PowerShell script on the website server.

Many SAM templates contain component monitors that allow the use of Windows PowerShell scripts. To find a list of these templates, navigate to the Manage Application Monitor Templates page and search for the word "PowerShell." You can perform this on the SAM Web Console, go to Settings > SAM Settings > Manage Templates. The search text box is on the top-right of the screen.
