AppInsight for SQL - Create an alert for SQL failed jobs

Overview

This article outlines how to create an alert on SQL failed jobs.

Environment

SAM v6.1 and later

Steps

  1. Open the Orion Web Console.
  2. Click Settings > Manage Alerts.
  3. Click Add New Alert.
  4. In the Trigger Condition, specify something similar to the following image:
  5. Go to the Trigger Actions page.
  6. Add an Action, for example, "Send an Email/Page".
  7. In the Subject/Message. the variable "${N=SwisEntity;M=SqlJobInfoAlert.Name}" will give the name of the job which triggered theaAlert.
  8. Save the configuration of the alert.
