AppInsight for IIS: 403 Not Authorized message when the Require SSL option is selected

Overview

AppInsight for IIS indicates is showing a 403 Not Authorized message when the Require SSL option is selected in the IIS configuration. 

Environment

All SAM versions

Cause 

The port that the SSL is trying to communicate with needs to be configured in the HTTPS Bindings Monitor.

Resolution

  1. On the AppInsight for IIS monitor > Click into a one of your websites which is effected

  2. In the top right corner click edit Thresholds

  3. Click the + sign for the HTTPS / HTTP Bindings component monitor.

  4. Click the Override Template button for the URL and specify the correct port.
