Agents are stuck in updating state on the new Orion instance in SAM

Issue

When agents are migrated from an old instance to a new instance with a different (earlier or later) Orion product version using the Group Policy Administrative template, the agent gets stuck in Updating state on the new Orion instance.

The Agent Administrative Template has the below properties:

Auto Upgrade = TRUE

Environment

all SAM versions

Cause

The agents were previously configured to not allow automatic updates.

Resolution

Enable Agent Automatic Updating via the Group Policy Administrative template:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\SolarWinds\Agent
