Additional polling engines are unable to connect to the SolarWinds server

Overview

This article addresses the issue where additional polling engines are unable to connect to the SolarWinds server and the Orion Web Console shows the error message "Could not connect to Orion Server on xyz".

Environment

  • NPM 12
  • SAM 6.2.4

Cause 

This can occur when DNS is not configured for any of the machines where the additional polling engines are installed on.

Resolution

Add the IP addresses and host names to the host files on each of the problematic machines.
