Upgrades from Serv-U 6.x require table name changes

Updated November 3rd, 2016

Overview

The Serv-U installation utility is designed to seamlessly upgrade users from older releases of Serv-U to the latest release with no excessive downtime or reconfiguration required - simply install and go. However, due to table name changes in Serv-U 9.0.0.1 made to avoid conflict with reserved keywords in Microsoft SQL Server (which could occur when ANSI quoted identifiers were NOT used), upgrades from Serv-U 6.x or previous which include databases require slight modifications prior to upgrade.

The Serv-U upgrade requires only two small adjustments to the Serv-U configuration files and to the database that will be upgraded.

Environment

  • Serv-U version 6++ with the following supported OS versions:
    • Windows Vista/7/8, Server 2008/2012
    • Windows 2000/XP, Server 2000/2003
    • Linux

Detail

Serv-U Administrator changes

Within the Serv-U Administrator, two adjustments must be made. These adjustments guarantee that the table names match new values for Serv-U 9 and later.

  • Users table name: SUUsers
  • Group table name: SUGroups

Database changes

Within the database, two adjustments must be made to match the above changes. These changes guarantee that the table names in the database match the table names configured in Serv-U.

  • Users table name: SUUsers
  • Groups table name: SUGroups
