Serv-U generates an error when adding new users

When you log on to Serv-U as an administrator and add new users, the following error displays:

The file or directory is not available to you.


The error occurs when adding users in Serv-U using any administrator account. Normally, this would happen if the template was modified, for example, the administrative privilege or logging.  So, when an administrator account tried to add a user, the template is applied automatically and sometimes prevent them to set some configuration.

The user or group template is configured with custom settings. When an administrator adds a user, the template is applied automatically, preventing the administrator from applying a new setting. 


Check the user template or group template for any custom settings.

  1. Log in to the Serv-U Management Console as an administrator. 
  2. Navigate to the Domain level.
  3. Click User and then Template.
  4. Clear any settings on the template.
  5. If you have the same issue on the Group level, clear any template settings.
