Environment

  • Serv-U Version that supports LDAP authentication

Detail

This article discusses LDAP authentication on Serv-U:

  • LDAP authentication on Serv-U not only supports Active Directory but it also can support other LDAP servers.
  • For the Active Directory, we can use different Active Directory attributes for the login. Currently we use UserPrincipalName and it uses UPN Format (for older versions of windows, sAMAccountName).
  • In reality, we can use a different Attribute. Attributes can be found by going into the AD. Click on view  >> Advanced Features >> Right click on the Account and then Properties and look for Property Editor.

Going back with other LDAP servers, we can also change the string being used for the LDAP query as the default one is specific for Windows. The user must be well versed with LDAP queries to get this working, but basically they just need to change the Search Filter Part on the Filter Users and then the LoginID for Attribute Mapping.
