Limit concurrent sessions in Serv-U

Overview

This article provides steps to configure Serv-U to restrict the number of sessions that can be made by a User account or a Group to a Domain or an entire Serv-U server. 

 

Environment

All Serv-U versions with the following supported OS:

  • Windows Vista/7/8, Server 2008/2012
  • Windows 2000/XP, Server 2000/2003
  • Linux

Steps

To configure these limits:

 

Limiting concurrent sessions per User:

  1. Edit the user account to restrict, and then click Limits and Settings.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Add the Maximum number of sessions for user account limit.
  4. Enter the number of sessions as an integer, and click Save.

 

Limiting concurrent sessions per Group:

  1. Edit the group account to restrict, and then click Limits and Settings.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Add the Maximum number of sessions for group limit.
  4. Enter the number of sessions as an integer, and click Save.

 

Limiting concurrent sessions per Domain:

  1. Click Limits and Settings menu on the left-hand side of the Management Console.
  2. In the Limits tab, click Add.
  3. Add the Maximum number of sessions for domain limit.
  4. Enter the number of sessions as an integer, and click Save.

 

Limiting concurrent sessions per Server:

  1. Click Server Limits and Settings menu on the right-hand side of the Management Console.
  2. In the Limits tab, click Add.
  3. Add the Maximum number of sessions for server limit.
  4. Enter the number of sessions as an integer, and click Save.
