File share error: The specified file or directory does not exist

Overview

This article describes the possible cause of this error message when a guest user tries to visit the file share link:

The specified file or directory does not exist

Environment

  • Serv-U MFT 15.1.6

Cause 

This occurs due to a misconfiguration on the file share repository by using just a "\".

Resolution

Set a specific directory for the repository.

  1. Go to Serv-U Management console.
  2. Select the domain.
  3. Click Limits and Settings.
  4. Select File sharing.
  5. Set the file sharing repository (ex. C:\servu).
