FTP Compression Mode Z

Updated April 27, 2017

This article provides information about the Mode Z command to compress an FTP traffic.

All Serv-U versions

By default, the FTP Voyager uses the Mode Z command to compress an FTP traffic using zlib. This is a lossless compression codec that increases effective transfer rates when transferring files such as text, databases and documents.

Adjusting Compression Settings

Compression settings are available at the global level such as tools ribbon, options, scheduler options button, or individual FTP and FTPS site profiles. They are located on the main connection node, and under the Compression section. You can use these to enable or disable compression and set the level of compression used (higher values indicate more compression).
