Overview

Serv-U offers a variety of API, SDK or integration options. Most require the use of the Serv-U MFT Server.

Environment

  • Serv-U version 12.x ++
  • Windows Vista/7/8, Server 2008/2012 - C:\ProgramData\RhinoSoft\Serv-U (Folder is Hidden in Windows by default)
  • Windows 2000/XP, Server 2000/2003 - C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\Serv-U
  • Linux - /usr/local/Serv-U

Detail

Database Integration

The most commonly used integration option involves using Serv-U MFT's support for an external database. This allows third-party applications written in C#, VB.NET, PHP or any other language control users, groups, attributes and permissions. It also permits Serv-U to share the authentication databases of third-party applications. More information about this option is available in the "Serv-U Database Integration Guide."

Authentication DLL Replacement

Another integration option involves developing an authentication library (a "DLL") that is invoked during Serv-U's authentication process. (Conceptually, this is similar to overriding "msgina.dll" in Windows authentication.) More information about the Serv-U Integration DLL is available in the Serv-U Administrator Guide.

Advanced Customization

Serv-U MFT Server permits administrators to customize the web interface, messages and other display elements of the server. The responses from various FTP commands can also be tailored for specific situations. More information about all these options is available in the Serv-U Administrator Guide.
