Configure the FTP folder view in Internet Explorer

Table of contents

Updated April 17, 2017

This article provides steps to enable the FTP folder view when connecting to Serv-U.

It is easier to transfer data using Microsoft Windows Explorer instead of connecting through Internet Explorer.

All Serv-U versions

  1. Open Internet Explorer and then go to Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Under the Advanced tab, select the Enable FTP folder view (outside of Internet Explorer) option, and then click Apply.
    Tools | Internet Options | Advanced |
  3. After making the changes, the address bar in Windows Explorer can be used to connect to an FTP site.

Note: See the Configure Serv-U for access from a web browser article to avoid having Internet Explorer attempt to log in as an anonymous account.
