Configure port forwarding through a D-Link Router

Overview

This article provides steps to configure port forward through a D-Link Router in Serv-U.

Steps

Configure D-Link router for forwarding ports 21 and 990 used by Serv-U:

  1. Open web browser and enter in the IP address of the router (© 2004-2007 D-Link Systems, Inc. at www.dlink.com, obtained on March 21, 2017).
  2. Enter (admin) in the username field and leave field blank/empty. You can also enter your specified username and password.
  3. Click Advanced > Virtual Server.

  4. Select Enabled radio button.
  5. Name your virtual server entry.
  6. In the Private IP field, enter the IP address of the computer that is hosting Serv-U on your local network (where x.x.x.x = Host IP Address).
  7. In the Protocol field, select TCP.
  8. In the field next to Private Port and Public Port, enter the port information. The private (used by Serv-U in your local network) and public (seen from WAN) ports are usually the same. To use SSL/TLS security, forward port 21 followed by port 990. 
  9. Click Apply, and then click Continue.

 

To forward your PASV port range:

  1. Go to Advanced and click Firewall.

  2. Click Enabled and enter a name for the new rule (ie. PASV).
  3. To allow users to access these ports, put an Asterisk(*) in the first box and leave the second box empty.
  4. Select LAN as the Destination and enter the IP address of the computer Serv-U is installed on.
  5. Enter the range of ports that are required to be open for your PASV port range. Suggested ports are between 50,000-50,004.
  6. Select Always for the Schedule.
  7. Click Apply, and then click Continue.
