Backup utility for Serv-U and FTP Voyager

Updated April 6, 2017

Overview

The following batch file can be used to save configuration data from FTP Voyager version 16+ and Serv-U version 12+ into one ZIP file. It can be used to help back up or migrate deployments.

Environment

  • FTP Voyager version 16 and later
  • Serv-U version 12 and later

Detail

Limitations

This script will not back up the following elements:

  • Batch files, scripts and command-line applications invoked by Serv-U events or FTP Voyager Scheduler tasks
  • SSH keys and SSL certificates used by Serv-U
  • Local folders or folder contents served by Serv-U
  • Local ODBC and other operating system-level configuration

Insert additional lines to the RhinoBackup.bat file to include the necessary elements or back them up separately:

How to use RhinoBackup.bat

  1. Create a new folder named RhinoBackup anywhere on your machine.
  2. Download Info-Zip's zip.exe and place it into the RhinoBackup folder.
    (© 2017 StahlWorks Technologies, available at http://stahlworks.com, obtained on March 31, 2017.)
  3. Create a new text file called RhinoBackup.bat in the RhinoBackup folder.
  4. Open RhinoBackup.bat using a text editor (such as NotePad).
  5. Copy everything from the RhinoBackup.bat section above into the text file, remove any leading or trailing spaces, and save the file.
  6. Double-click the RhinoBackup.bat file.
  7. Save or send the resulting RhinoSoft_Config_Backup.zip file.

If you encounter any problems, open a command line window, go to the directory of your RhinoBackup folder and run the batch file from there. If trouble persists, remove the @echo off command from the batch file to see a detailed output.
