Windows 10 build 16299.64 reports missing updates that are not required

Updated December 8, 2017

Overview

You have variety of Windows 10 machines with following release versions:

  • 1709
  • 1703
  • 1607
  • 1511

All the latest patches have been installed on all of them. However, all 1709 version machines report that there are updates needed. Some of the updates are installed on 1511, 1607, and 1511, but are reported as needed for 1709.

Environment

  • Patch Manager, all versions
  • Win 10 with mixed build versions

Cause

This issue is probably caused by additional language packs that were enabled some on 1709's MS update catalog.

Resolution

1. De-select the additional languages that were enabled on 1709.

2. Decline those update packages in the Patch Manager console.

3. Synchronize the WSUS server.
