WSUS server does not display new updates after installing Patch Manager

Overview

After you install Patch Manager and navigate to Enterprise > Update Services < <your_WSUS_server> and select All Updates, the All Updates window does not display any updates.

Environment

All Patch Manager versions

Cause

During the installation, Patch Manager does update or modify the WSUS settings. As a result, the WSUS server does not synchronize with the Microsoft Update site and no updates are available for publishing.

Resolution

Configure the WSUS server to download and display updates.

  1. Log in to Patch Manager as an administrator.
  2. In the navigation pane, expand Enterprise > Update Services and select the WSUS server.
  3. Click Products and Classifications in the Actions pane.
  4. Select a product in the Products tab.
  5. Click the Classifications tab.
  6. Select the required classification, and click OK.
  7. Click Yes to run the task.
The Task Progress window displays the download process.
  8. Click Close to close the window.
Patch Manager updates the Update Events tab in the WSUS server window.
  9. Click Synchronize Server in the Actions pane.
  10. Complete the Task Options Wizard, and then click Finish.
  11. Click the Update Events tab and check the update process.
  12. Expand the WSUS server in the navigation pane and select Updates.
  13. Verify the updates in the Updates pane.
