WSUS Inventory carried out on the Automation Server not on the Primary Application Server

This article explains how to check to make sure the Primary Application Server is included in the Default Pool for round-robbin.

Patch Manager 2.1 and later


The Primary Application Server (PAS) was not included in the default pool like the Automation Servers were. You can view these windows by double clicking the server in the Patch Manager Servers view.

Here is an example of the automation servers that are in the default pool:


  1. In the Patch Manager Console, select and highlight your Primary Application Server and select the Patch Manager Server Configuration Wizard in the actions pane.
  2. Select Edit an existing Patch Manager Server's configuration settings and then click Next.
  3. In the Server Name drop down, select your Primary Application Server.
  4. Click Resolve, if it doesn't automatically and then click Next.
  5. Keep it in the Default Management Group with the other servers but on this window make sure the "Include this Patch Manager server in the default round-robin pool and then click Next.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. Re-run the task and it should be carried out on the PAS from then on.
