Uninstall an outdated Java version using the Patch Manager Admin Console

Overview

This article describes how to use the Patch Manager Admin Console to install the latest Oracle® Java package and uninstall the previous Java package from a client machine.

Environment

  • Patch Manager 2.x

Cause 

Previous Java versions are not uninstalled when you install the latest version. 

Resolution

  1. Download and import a Java update to Patch Manager. 
  2. Uninstall the outdated Java version.
    1. Open the Patch Manager Administrator Console.
    2. In the navigation pane, expand Enterprise > Update Services > Your_WSUS_Server > Updates and select Third Party Updates.
    3. In the center pane, select the Java package you want to uninstall.
    4. In the Actions pane, click Update Management.
    5. Select the package in the wizard.
    6. Click the Action drop-down menu and select Uninstall. 
    7. Complete the Update Management Wizard to remove the package from the server.
