Unable to publish updates after reinstalling the WSUS server

Overview

After you reinstall the WSUS server, you cannot publish Microsoft® Windows® or third-party updates to the managed systems. When you reach the last step in the publishing process, the following error displays: 

Failed: Cannot access string.

All Patch Manager versions

Steps

  1. Download KB2734608 and install it to your WSUS server.  (© 2017 Microsoft, available at https://support.microsoft.com, obtained on May 17, 2017.) 
  2. Restart Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and verify the WSUS installation.
  3. Publish the updates and verify that the publishing process is working correctly.
