Overview

Unable to gather the Windows versions of Internet Explorer 8 on the Patch Manager server for reporting verification.

Environment

All Patch Manager versions

Resolution

  1. Open Patch Manager console, and then expand Enterprise on the left pane.

  2. Click Managed Computers, and then select the machine you want to configure.

  3. In the right pane, click Inventory.

  4. In the Inventory Options window, select Inventory – include specific datasources, and then select Create a custom inventory configuration template. Click OK.

  5. In Inventory Configuration Editor window, uncheck all datasources except forComputer (Registry Information) and Registry. Click OK.

  6. In File, Directory and Registry Datasource Configuration tab, click Remove All. Click OK.

  7. Click Manually Add/Modify.
  8. In Add or Edit Registry Key or Value window, fill in Registry Key Path, select Include Registry Value and String, and then provide Value Name. Click Save.

  9. In Inventory Configuration Editor window, select the datasource you added and then click OK. 
    Note: The selected datasource may increase the time required for inventory collection.
  10. In the Task Options Wizard – Inventory Task window, select the machine and then click Next.
  11. Click Next > Finish.
  12. In the left pane of the Patch Manager console, expand Administration and Reporting, and then select Active Task. Check that the status is Running.

  13. In the left pane of the Patch Manager console, click Reporting > Configuration Management Reports > Computer Registry Information.
  14. Select Basic Registry Information, and then click Run Report. The Registry Path, Registry Object Name, and other information for Internet Explorer are shown.
