Overview

WSUS on Windows 2012 R2 is unable to create self-signed certificates for Patch Manager packages.

Environment

  • WSUS on Windows 2012 R2
  • All Patch Manager versions

Cause

This is by design by Microsoft and only applies to Windows 2012 R2 (as of Feb 2014).

There are two workarounds for this issue:
