Here are the features included in Patch Manager's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Extension Pack: 

  • It features a fast diagnosis and quick repair for issues on Configuration Manager clients enterprise-wide through one interface.
  • It now has enhanced collection views and client health views.
  • Users now have access to real-time management data across all IT environments including enterprise-wide summaries, graphs, and other statistics.
  • The SCCM Extension Pack diagnoses and repairs Windows Update Agents and WMI enterprise-wide.
  • It deploys and manages patches for third-party applications using Configuration Manager without the need for scripting or SCUP.
  • It receives automatic notifications via email and “Outlook style” pop-up alerts when new patches for frequently used applications are announced by vendors.
  • It includes Patch Manager's PackageBoot™ Technology that creates advanced deployment scenarios such as start/stop services, bundle multiple files in one package, or to run uninstalls and custom scripts.
  • It manages software updates in real-time including immediate update scans and installs, and no remote desktop is needed.
  • It purchases the Patch Manager's third-party updates add-on pack to automatically receive pre-built and tested patches for popular third-party applications including Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Mozilla Firefox, iTunes, Adobe Acrobat and more. Using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, patches are easily deployed to desktops or servers enterprise-wide – requiring no scripting and saving hours of time on patch management tasks
