Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve an issue where stale data or removed machines are still reflected on the report.

When we run into scenarios like this, you have the option to purge the WSUS server's WSUS inventory.

Once this is run, the information gathered in the Managed Computer Inventory, as well as the WSUS Inventory is cleared from the database.

Note: This will not affect Patch Manager's operation or the nodes themselves. We are only clearing the inventory data which can be easily attained by re-running both the WSUS and Managed Computer Inventory.

Environment

All Patch Manager versions

Steps

  1. In the Patch Manager Console, select and highlight Update Services.
A list of your WSUS servers is displayed in the top center pane.
  2. Highlight your WSUS server. The Purge Inventory text becomes an option in the Actions pane.
  3. The WSUS Inventory Data Cleanup window will appear and have your WSUS server checked, and then click Delete.
  4. The task will then run and clear out any inventory records from the database. Click Close once completed.

Now that the Inventory has been purged, you can now either create new WSUS Inventory and Managed Computer Inventory tasks or run the ones you already have created as long as one of each inventory gets ran after the purge. Otherwise, you will receive an empty report.

For more information on creating the two types of Inventory tasks see the following link:
