Overview

If you select the Export to Microsoft Access Database (*.mdb) option when exporting data from the Patch Manager console, the export fails and the console returns the following error message.

Error Message:
Failed to export. Error Code: 1 Message: Incorrect function

Environment

  • All Patch Manager versions
  • Microsoft Access

Cause

Microsoft .NET Framework does not support exports to Access by default. To support this functionality, Microsoft requires the Access Database Engine 2010 Reditributable pack or the 2007 Office System Driver. on the system generating the export.

Resolution

Install Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Reditributable pack or the 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components on all Patch Manager systems that generate Access exports. For example:

  • If Patch Manager is exporting the data from scheduled reports, install the redistributable pack on the Patch Manager server running the reports.
  • If you are exporting the data from a Patch Manager console, install the redistributable pack on the server running the console.

Alternatively, choose a different file type.
