Patch Manager error: System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed

The following error occurs when upgrading Patch Manager licenses using the SolarWinds License Manager:

The Zone of the assembly that failed was:



  • Patch Manager 2.1.3
  • License Manager



The error is caused by insufficient permissions on the account to write to certain sections of the registry. This happens when the User Account Control (UAC) is enabled on the computer.



Run the License manager using the Run as administrator option.
