Maximum time to wait for the computer to reboot not applied

Updated May 25, 2017

Overview

The system does not follow the defined maximum time to reboot setting to wait before the target client computer reboots.

Environment

All Patch Manager versions

Cause

This behavior is by design when using Update Management.

Resolution

  1. To control the reboot behavior of the client machines targeted in any update management task, use the Update Management wizard.
  2. At the Pre-reboot Behavior Configuration page, select "Grace period" and set the "Maximum time to wait for computer to reboot". These two settings control the reboot behavior before installing any updates if required by MS Windows patches.
