Windows Server 2012 R2 domain controllers display as Windows 8 machines in Patch Manager

Overview

The Patch Manager agent labels a server running Windows Server 2012 R2 with a domain controller role as a Windows 8 machine.

Environment

  • Patch Manager 2.1.5
  • Patch Manager Agent 2.1.6

Cause 

Software bug

Workaround

Manually apply the updates from the affected domain controllers using the Update Now feature in Windows User Account Control (WUAC). 

This issue will be resolved in a future Patch Manager version.
