Unable to connect to client systems using WMI Providers

When you connect to your client systems using WMI Providers, the procedure fails and Patch Manager displays the following error: 

Details: Although we successfully connected to Some_Client_Computer_FQDN, we were unable to install the EminentWare WMI providers. 
Detail: Input string was not in a correct format.


Patch Manager SR2 and earlier 


The WMI Providers directory includes invalid files that are interpreted as valid WMI Provider installers.  


  1. Navigate to your Patch Manager directory.
  2. Navigate to the following directory:
  3. Verify that the directory contains:

    where X.X.XXX is the Patch Manager version.
  4. Remove any additional files in the directory.
  5. Reconnect to your client systems using WMI Providers to verify that the issue is resolved.
