When you integrate Patch Manager with ConfigMgr 2007, you can add the Patch Manager MMC snap-in to the ConfigMgr console. This process displays the Patch Manager MMC components as child nodes of the ConfigMgr MMC in a single console window.

Install the Patch Manager MMC snap-in to the ConfigMgr console (v1.80 and earlier)

Install the Patch Manager Admin Console on the computer running the ConfigMgr console.

  1. Open the ConfigMgr console in Author mode.
  2. Click File > Add/Remove Snap-in.
  3. In the Add or Remove Snap-ins dialog box, click Advanced.
  4. In the Advanced dialog box, select Allow changing the parent snap-in, and click OK.
  5. In the Add or Remove Snap-ins dialog box, set the Parent Node menu to the ConfigMgr snap-in.
  6. Add the Patch Manager snap-in as a child node, and click OK.
  7. Click File > Save.

Load the CLR4.0 runtime (v1.85 and later)

You must load a different Common Language Runtime (CLR) version to add Patch Manager versions 1.85 and later to ConfigMgr 2007.

  1. Open a command prompt with administrative privileges.
  2. Set a system variable to load the CLR4.0 runtime by entering the following:

    setx COMPLUS_Version v4.0.30319 /M

  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Follow the instructions on your screen to add the Patch Manager MMC snap-in to the console.
