How to change the local patch store location in Patch Manager

Overview

The Software Publishing library located in Administration and Reporting lists all available software catalogs that you can install on the managed computers. This article provides information about storing the software publishing catalog files in a different location to free up additional space on your Patch Manager server.

Steps

The default path for the Software Publishing library (or local patch store) is:

%PROGRAMFILES%\EminentWare\Server\packages

These files cannot be relocated to a different location after you install Patch Manager. To reduce the size of your library to conserve disk space, you can:

  • Delete all packages that were pushed to your managed computers
  • Reinstall Patch Manager and select an alternate location for your software publishing catalog files. 

Delete all published packages

  1. Log in to Patch Manager as an administrator.
  2. In the navigation pane, expand Administration and Reporting > Software Publishing.
  3. Publish all required packages to your managed computers.
  4. Select a package directory (for example, Adobe Packages).
  5. Right-click the package and select Delete Synchronization.
  6. Complete the wizard.
  7. Repeat step 2 through step 6 for all remaining packages.

Reinstall Patch Manager

Unistall Patch Manager

  1. Log in to your Patch Manager server.
  2. Go to Programs and Features.
  3. Highlight SolarWinds Patch Manager and select Uninstall.

Install Patch Manager

  1. Log in to the Customer Portal.
  2. Click Downloads > Download Product.
  3. Click the Products drop-down menu and select Patch Manager.
  4. Download Patch Manager full package (with SQL). 
  5. Install Patch Manager on your server.

  6. During the installation procedure, select a new location for the software package files.
